Ruinart Blanc de Blancs

The history of the oldest champagne house goes back to the monk Dom Thierry Ruinart. The Benedictine lived from 1657 to 1709 and was a contemporary of Louis Back in his homeland, Champagne, he considered the wines that thrive there to be particularly suitable for the production of sparkling wines. He also passed this belief on to his family. In 1729, his nephew Nicolas Ruinart, who was a cloth merchant in Reims, created the first accounting book for “wine with pearls”. This is how the first champagne house was founded. The first bottles were intended as gifts for good, long-time customers of his cloths. But demand for his wines increased and Nicolas Ruinart recognized the market that was opening up. He gave up the cloth business and devoted himself entirely to his champagne. Today, Champagne Ruinart is one of the most important champagne brands and enjoys worldwide fame.
